Meg Ryan and Dustin Hoffman are among a growing number of artists and performers who have dropped planned trips to Israel in recent weeks.
Opening June 25, this annual display of work by the Center’s talented array of teachers offers the community an opportunity to get to know the individual artists who make the Center a dynamic place. The show, entitled [work], also include entries submitted by several staff and board members who work as artists in addition to their professional roles. There are 27 three-dimensional pieces (ceramics, sculpture, jewelry) and 39 two-dimensional works.

The Segal Center will devote two days to Tap Dance, a complex American popular art with a rich and under-recognized history and a present that’s vibrant and international. Presented in partnership with the American Tap Dance Foundation, The World of Tap Dance will feature discussions with renowned tap artists across the generations, special screenings of classic and rare dance footage, and live performances by a curated lineup of dynamic tap artists. Day 1 will look back on the history of tap, with a special focus on the late and legendary Chuck Green, while Day 2 will survey the recent bloom in tap activity around the world, from Europe to Brazil to Japan.

The National Endowment for the Arts is giving out 18 lifetime achievement awards on Friday in the fields of opera, jazz, and folk and traditional arts.
A new documentary video and interactive web series, the Made Here Project, explores how the creative class functions in New York, from finding spaces to making ends meet.
Back by popular demand, the New Juried Visual Art Exhibition showcases the Greater Pittsburgh region’s vibrant creative community. The Festival received hundreds of entries across the spectrum of visual arts, from which the jury panel selected the 110 works on display by 75 artists. Doug Kinsey is exhibiting works. Kinsey has marketed his work via absolutearts.com since 2002.

MITHRA, SOL INVICTUS opened on Sunday 30th May 2010 with introduction by Enzo Battarra in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Italy. It will be possible to visit the exhibition until the 30th June 2010 every day but on Monday from 9 am to 7pm.
Archeologists, scholars, artists face the ancient religion of the god Mithra, so spread and deeply rooted in the ancient Roman empire, that the Christians had to include its rites in their own religion.
